New Book Zeroes In On Key Hiring Mistakes And Outlines Solutions

Companies that have let their recruitment and retention strategies go by the wayside during this recent economic downturn are at risk for a staffing crisis in the near future, according to Barry Siegel, president of Interactive and Staffing Solutions, Bernard Hodes Group (www.hodes.com). In his new book, “The Keys to Successful Recruiting and Staffing,” Siegel provides recruiting and staffing strategies for companies to implement now before the labor market tightens with the expected mass retirement of Baby Boomers.

“The Keys to Successful Recruiting and Staffing” may be purchased for $19.95 at www.hodes.com or through the online catalog at WEDDLE’s, www.weddles.com. It will be available in major bookstores shortly.

“Despite poor economic conditions, companies are investing millions of dollars building and promoting their brands,” says Siegel. “Yet, these companies have simultaneously frozen hiring or dramatically reduced budgets to identify employees that will make or break their brands. One action nullifies the other.”

Siegel says successful recruiting is based upon the following rule of thumb: “The people you are looking for probably are not looking for you!”

The four key sets that are fully described in the book include:
* Becoming an Employer of Choice
* The Cycle of Response and Responsiveness
* It’s All in the Marketing Mix
* Flexibility and Hiring for a Culture Fit

“The Keys to Successful Recruiting and Staffing” will benefit everyone involved in the hiring and HR functions, those responsible for the bottom line including chief financial officers and their direct reports, as well as line and staff managers responsible for making hires.

“Talent matters, because brands matter,” says Alan V. Schwartz, CEO, Bernard Hodes Group. “And what matters most for brands as well as talent is quality. The only way a brand can be delivered effectively is by quality people who love their jobs and do the best they can for their employers. This book shares the keys to making smart investments in talent acquisition.”

Barry has been in the recruitment field since 1970, and has been with Bernard Hodes Group since 1971. After holding virtually every account service, creative and management position within the organization, he was promoted in January 2002, to President, Interactive and Staffing Solutions. In November 2002, trade magazine “Human Resources Outsourcing Today” recognized Barry as having “invented recruitment process outsourcing,” and named him among “The 100 Superstars of HR Outsourcing.” He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
