ForceNine Announces Internet News Show for Wireless Industry; ‘The Wireless Wonk’ to Begin Weekly Broadcasts in September
ForceNine Consulting, a leading telecommunications industry consulting firm, announced it has begun production of an Internet news show for the wireless industry named “The Wireless Wonk.” The weekly show will provide news, views, and interviews with industry movers and shakers. The first show is scheduled for broadcast this Friday, September 5, 2003.
“ForceNine felt it would be valuable to the wireless community to present industry news in a traditional news format,” said Andrew Roscoe, aka “The Wireless Wonk.” “Our show will include news summaries, commentary, and interviews with news-makers, all via a streaming media environment that you can watch on your computer at home or at work. We hope that watching the Wonk each Friday morning will become a habit for anyone who follows the wireless industry.”
Mr. Roscoe’s background is uniquely suited for wireless commentary and interviews. As the CEO of EMCI and the Strategis Group, he has been a leading industry analyst for nearly 20 years. His analysis has appeared in trade and financial publications, and he has been interviewed on a number of television news shows regarding the industry. He also hosted an award-winning half-hour television documentary on the development of the PCS industry. Mr. Roscoe has managed large and small companies in the wireless industry, including a public company and several startups. His wit and outgoing personality have made him a regular speaker at industry trade shows, including participating in keynote events for major trade shows.
For The Wireless Wonk, news summary headlines will be culled from the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association’s (CTIA) DATA Select News & Info Service. “We are pleased to include CTIA as a Wireless Wonk sponsor and to use headlines from their CTIA Select daily news service in our weekly news summaries,” commented Mr. Roscoe.
Andrea Knotts Bona, CTIA publisher, says, “The Wireless Wonk’s format is entertaining, refreshing and provides informed analysis on the dynamic wireless industry. It’s not often a news product can simultaneously inform and entertain, but the Wonk’s unique format achieves both. The Wireless Wonk is a great addition to CTIA’s WOW-COM(R) Internet portal’s content mix.”
Ms. Bona adds, “I’ve been an end user of Andy Roscoe’s wireless industry analysis since 1987, and there are few wireless industry executives with the kind of institutional knowledge and experience Andy brings to the table.”
The Wireless Wonk will be available every Friday morning, and can be downloaded at anytime by the viewer simply by clicking on the icon at www.WirelessWonk.net. The typical news summary will be five to ten minutes in length. Interview shows will be ten to 15 minutes in length. The first news summary will be broadcast on September 5, 2003. The first interview show will be with Michael Jalbert, Chairman and CEO of EFJ, Inc. on September 12, 2003. The Wireless Wonk and Mr. Jalbert discuss the turn-around of EFJ and the role of wireless in the growing homeland security marketplace. Upcoming interviews include Michael Balhoff, Managing Director of the Telecommunications Group at Legg Mason; Michael Goff, VP of Network Strategy at Boingo; and Marty Singer, Chairman and CEO of PCTel.
