Fantastic Foods, Inc. Joins Meatless Monday Public Health Campaign

Leading All-Natural Food Brand Helps Americans Live Longer

Fantastic Foods, Inc., one of the nation’s leading all-natural vegetarian food brands, is the latest member of the Meatless Monday Campaign, Inc., a national public health campaign to help prevent heart disease, stroke and cancer — the three leading causes of death in America.

Meatless Monday is non-profit campaign in association with John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. The campaign’s goal is to reduce the consumption of saturated fat by at least 15 percent by 2010 by encouraging moderation in meal consumption and meal planning. The campaign provides tools and resources to help Americans cut the saturated fat from their diets one day a week, on Mondays.

Fantastic Foods is pursuing a number of co-marketing activities with Meatless Monday, ranging from co-branding to recipes to grassroots campaigns targeted toward younger adults and parents of adolescents.

“The Meatless Monday campaign is an excellent initiative that educates Americans on healthy food choices that are low in saturated fats, a long-term goal of Fantastic Foods for more than 25 years,” explained John Foraker, CEO of HomeGrown Natural Foods, Inc., parent company of Fantastic Foods, Inc. “Myths surrounding meat-free alternatives are numerous, ranging from a meatless meal isn’t healthy to it’s difficult to prepare. Educating Americans that meat-free alternatives are delicious, nutritious and convenient to prepare is key to dispelling those myths and helping Americans live longer.”

Both the Fantastic ( www.fantasticfoods.com ) and Meatless Monday ( www.meatlessmonday.com ) web sites provide information, recipes, and resources on how to lower consumption of saturated fats. The Fantastic site features an online store.

The Meatless Monday Campaign follows the dietary guidelines of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the American Heart Association.
