TRANSCENDENT MAN Premieres at 2009 Tribeca Film Festival

In TRANSCENDENT MAN, Ptolemy follows Kurzweil around the globe as he presents the daring arguments from his best-selling book, The Singularity is Near: When Humans Transcend Biology. Kurzweil predicts that with the ever-accelerating rate of technological change, humanity is fast approaching an era in which our intelligence will become increasingly non-biological and trillions of times more powerful than today.

Based on a famous graphic novel from the 1980s it tells the story of an alternate America in which the Vietnam War was won, Nixon was elected for a third term and costumed superheroes are part of the fabric of society. Christopher Nolan – Inception

The Hollywood Reporter has written that Christopher Nolan will not be doing a third Batman film as his next project. In fact Batman 3 (Working title (/) Gotham) is likely to be pushed back to 2011 while Chris works on his original science fiction project, Inception.

UNESCO CHIEF DEPLORES MURDERS OF JOURNALISTS IN RUSSIA, VENEZUELA

The head of the United Nations agency tasked with upholding press freedom condemned the killings of journalists and a lawyer in Russia and Venezuela, underscoring that these murders are a contravention of human rights.

The Dark Knight Returns to IMAX(R) theatres for encore presentation.

IMAX Corporation and Warner Bros. Pictures today announced that the box office smash hit The Dark Knight, which has grossed more than $997 million at the worldwide box office since its release on July 18th, 2008, will return to IMAX(R) theatres for an encore presentation. Starting January 23rd, the film will open in 143 IMAX screens domestically, and 29 screens internationally. Last year the film opened day and date in 94 domestic and 15 international IMAX theatres and went on to become the highest grossing live-action Hollywood IMAX release, generating $63 million as it continued to be released throughout the IMAX network.

As members of graffiti crew DPM start a prison sentence, pictures of their work are to be exhibited in a New York art gallery. So are they vandals or frustrated artists? KATE MEAD reports.

EIGHT men were sentenced on Friday (11) in what was one of the biggest prosecutions for graffiti the UK has ever seen.
All admitted conspiracy to cause criminal damage as part of a graffiti crew called DPM that tagged and painted trains and stations costing rail networks an estimated £1 million.
